Brendan Shanahan accepts deal with New York Rangers

Brendan Shanahan

After nine seasons and three Stanley Cups with the Red Wings, Brendan Shanahan has decided to play in the Big Apple.

The Free Press confirmed Sunday morning that Shanahan has accepted a one-year offer with the Rangers, believed to be worth around $4 million.

The Wings had offered him $4 million for one season, and a slightly lower per-average for two seasons.

Shanny had flirted with the idea of playing for the Rangers in the past, so it’s not too much of a surprise. He had better hope for his sake that things go better for him than the last guy who left Detroit for a “dream job” in New York.
