Eagles owner admits signing Terrell Owens was a mistake

Jeffrey Lurie

In his annual state-of-the-team address Wednesday, Lurie acknowledged that acquiring Owens was a mistake.

“I would not do it again,” Lurie said. “You look back on it — one year great, the second year a disaster. Nobody should be able to be as disruptive and really cut the energy of the team down …. I think we all learned from that.”

Hindsight is 20/20. You really can’t blame Lurie; I mean, it’s not like Terrell Owens was a disruption in San Fransisco and didn’t get along with his coach and quarterback. It’s not like he was…I don’t know…traded to a team and then openly proclaimed that he wouldn’t report to said team. He’s just not that kind of person. All of this just came right out of left field.
