Ashley Lelie skips Broncos minicamp - again
The absence of Lelie, who is unhappy over his role with the Broncos, the offseason acquisition of wide receiver Javon Walker, and apparently his contract, was expected. The four-year veteran, the subject of trade rumors through much of the offseason, had previously boycotted all 14 of the Broncos’ voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) workouts and had publicly reiterated his desire to move on.
The article also states that since Lelie is under contract, the Broncos can not only fine him for every day he sits out, but also apply to recover part of his signing bonus.
Now, we at The Sports Dirt aren’t mathematicians, nor do we know if it’s just the thin Denver air preventing oxygen from getting to his brain, but if he is only making $600,000 in base salary, it won’t be long before a good chunk of that is gone and he’ll be doing what most guys named Ashley do - wait tables looking for a job.
