Al Wallace fined for ruining Chris Simms’ spleen
The NFL fined Panthers defensive end Al Wallace $7,500 for his hit in Chris Simms last Sunday which knocked him out of the game and may or may not have ruptured his spleen - but which did not originally draw a flag on the play.
The average splenectomy costs around $16,000, so if Wallace would have hit Simms just a little bit harder he could probably have saved a little on his health insurance deductible.
