Jermaine O’Neal is tired of being mediocre

Jermaine O’Neal is sick of limping into the playoffs and watching someone else get all the glory.
“If I can’t take this team to another level, I truthfully believe we should go our separate ways at the end of the season,” said O’Neal, according to the Indianapolis Star. “I’m saying in general, the bottom line is you play to win. If we don’t have a system set to win a championship, if we don’t have the crew to win a championship, then what are we doing?”
And who wouldn’t want a player like Jermaine O’Neal? Lots of teams, actually. As the de facto leader of the Pacers since Reggie Miller retired, he’s done a pretty crappy job - 4 first round playoff eliminations, a drop in production in the post season, and lets not forget his patented sliding punch he introduced on a fan in Detroit a couple of years ago.
The Jerm is more tradable than Ron Artest, so Larry Bird should be able to avoid a repeat of that whole fiasco, but being more tradable than Ron Artest is kind of like being more likable than OJ Simpson.
