Yankees pay $4 million to get rid of Jaret Wright

The Yankees are on a tear getting rid of bad karma. Days after trading Gary Sheffield to the Tigers, they managed to dump perennial disappointment Jaret Wright off on the Orioles - a division rival - for reliever Chris Britton, even agreeing to pay $4 million of Wright’s $7 million salary to complete the deal.

This is the problem with giving a guy a fat contract after one semi-decent season - in New York, of all places, where the pitching mound is such a black hole for talent that it even managed to suck up A-Rod’s dignity all the way from 3rd base.
