Rangers interested in Barry Bonds

Barry Bonds

Rangers owner Tom Hicks revealed that the team is looking into the possibility of signing free agent steroid receptacle outfielder Barry Bonds, who is currently #2 on the all-time home run list.

Surprisingly, Hicks didn’t run from the question. He revealed that general manager Jon Daniels is “studying” the Bonds situation. Washington, who coached across the Bay from Bonds for 11 seasons, added that he wouldn’t mind managing “one of the game’s great players” at all.

Of course there are going to be teams who decide that ultimately it will be worth the hassle and controversy of signing Bonds to have him wearing their uniform when he hits the home run that breaks Hank Aaron’s record. Who wouldn’t want their team logo plastered all over TVs in Barry Bonds highlight reels shown on CNN when he goes on trial for lying to a federal grand jury?
