Ozzie Guillen, David Riske to be suspended for hitting Chris Duncan

Ozzie GuillenThe Dirt:

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen will be suspended two games and pitcher David Riske three games for hitting the Cardinals’ Chris Duncan on Tuesday, Bruce Levine from ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago is reporting.

Riske and manager Guillen were ejected in the seventh inning of Chicago’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night after Riske hit Chris Duncan with a pitch.

The Spin: One has to assume that this is Major League Baseball’s way of punishing Ozzie Guillen for his comments made against Jay Mariotti, since because they have set precedent by not doing anything in the past, to do something now would be inconsistant. They took this long to settle on that suspension…it sure does seem like they will wait for the Mariotti incident to simmer down and see if it is forgotten. While all this is going on, you can imagine Sean Tracey curled up in the corner of the clubhouse in the fetal position, sobbing quietly.
