Joe Girardi doesn’t want to manage Nationals

Former Marlins manager Joe Girardi has removed himself from consideration for the vacant Washington Nationals job, saying that, “it’s not the right move for my family,” who moved to Miami less than a year ago.
It’s not hard to understand why he doesn’t want to move his kids to an area where crime is rampant, shootings are commonplace, the mayor is a crack addict, and snipers pick off random pedestrians. He’d be safer managing the Iranian national team.
Girardi also put to rest rumors that he is holding out for the Yankees job, since Joe Torre’s contract ends at the end of next season and he is clinging to his job by a frayed string.
“That has nothing to do with it. I have too much respect for Joe Torre to ever think like that. I think Joe should manage as long as he wants. I had no thoughts about the Yankees in making this decision.”
Now that we think about it, he’s probably safter sticking with the Washington job than working for George Steinbrenner.
