Indians trade Jason Johnson to Red Sox

Jason JohnsonThe Dirt:

The Red Sox have acquired right-hander Jason Johnson from the Indians for cash considerations, FOXSports.com has learned.

Johnson, 32, was designated for assignment by the Indians on Tuesday as part of a team-wide shakeup. The Indians had 10 days to trade Johnson, release him or put him on waivers.

The Spin: Talk about a reversal of fortune…imagine waking up one day and realizing you are pitching for the Cleveland Indians. Can’t get much worse than that, right? And then, all of the sudden, you are designated for assignment…the Cleveland Indians don’t think you are good enough to pitch for them. Ouch. And then, by some miracle, one of the great franchises in all of sports and a perennial contender trades for you. That has to pretty much run you through the entire gamut of human emotion right there. Good luck to Jason on his fresh start.
