Gary Sheffield will not do that for the Yankees

Gary Sheffield is upset that the Yankees have decided to pick up the $13 million on his contract. By doing so they control where he plays next season, as they will likely trade him and keep him from ending up with the Boston Red Sox. Said Sheffield:
“This will not work, this will not work at all. I don’t want to play first base a year for them. I will not do that.
I don’t know what they’re (Yankees) going to do. Maybe they picked it up just to trade me. If they do that, if I just (go) to a team for one year, there’s going to be a problem.”
When did Gary Sheffield start sounding like a Dr. Seuss book? “This will not work at first base, it will not work in any case. This will not work when I play ball, this will not work, not work at all.”
